Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket to improve services for customers by expanding distribution capabilities

In August, the Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket will expand its services to its customers in western North America through the addition of a second, full-service warehouse in Sparks, NV (near Reno), serving customers located west of the Rocky Mountains, including Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Hawaii, Alaska and British Columbia. The warehouse facility is owned and operated by CoLinx, a manufacturer-owned provider of shared e-commerce and logistics services in North America. As a founding member of CoLinx, Schaeffler has enjoyed many years of logistical excellence with its Automotive and Industrial branches, and is pleased to be able to extend this experience to the Aftermarket, as well.

According to Jim Mehrl, director of Supply Chain Management, we are expanding our distribution capabilities to improve our service to our West Coast customers through reduced transit times and improved availability of products. The move will also free space in the Valley City, OH warehouse to accommodate additional products and programs to complement our offering to the market. With the opening of this new location in Sparks, the smaller Temecula, CA warehouse will be closed.

All customer orders for both Valley City and the Sparks distribution facilities will be managed in Valley City, along with customer service functions. To handle the new responsibilities, several Valley City employees will shift roles.
